After discovering the love of fitness (aka boxing) and feeling like I can keep up with the fittest people in the gym (well I say keep up VERY lightly!) I decided to look at what I was eating as I couldn’t see my weight changing which I was baffled by. Surely if I go to the gym every day for 2 hours I can eat anything I want, right?!
I ask my friend who owns State of Mind Fitness gym for advice asked him why I wasn’t losing weight even though I’m doing all this training. He said “well what are you eating? You can’t put 90% into your training and do 10% for your nutrition, it just doesn’t work like that! It needs to be 50% training and 50% nutritional food.” I then had a massive realisation check, and sugar me it was hard to change my habits.
From going to yummy foods that I really enjoyed too eating pure protein and nuts…sorry where is the chocolate?!! So I sucked it up and decided to change my lifestyle. After a while my mood changed for the worst, now I am a very happy, bubbly positive person so seeing me not that must have been weird for others. Even people at work kept asking if I was OK, my response was ‘I WANT CHOCOLATE!”. I didn’t realise how much sugar I had before, it’s actually crazy! But once you get past that ‘wall’ you actually feel so much better and more positive than before.
The first bit of weight came off quickly but then it was pushing through the last bit as that’s the hardest part. But once I saw the results it was 100% worth it!
I always say persistence is key but it truly is! Man it is hard to change your naughty habits BUT it pays to be a winner, and we all want to be a winner, don’t we?!
