After a year of training and really enjoying my fitness I couldn’t see a difference in my body shape. I wondered why as I was training everyday for about two hours so I was baffled that there was no change.
It was only when my trainer asked me what I ate that I started really thinking about…surely I don’t need to analyse what I am eating if I’m training so much? My trainer said “well there is no point in putting 100% into your training then eating bad food in-between training, it’s 100% into your training and 100% into your eating”. I then had a reality check and looked at what I was eating, sugar me is all I can say!!
I have tried all the well known diets throughout my life and they just didn’t work for me. So I decided to simplify my meals and make them much more nutritional. By also starting a healthy fitness Instagram account and taking pictures of the food that I cooked made me appreciate what I ate much more. I also got motivational advice from my gym friends and other inspirations from social media. After changing this habit you’d be surprised the difference.
Its all about moderation! By eating healthier I didn’t have to completely cut out the bad things, I just found alternatives. I also had a sneaky trick where I had a cheat meal once a week, this was a must! A cheat meal was anything I wanted but it gave my brain and body something to focus on as a reward at the end of the week.
Everyday I am discovering new and fun healthy food. I am finding new recipes to cook with and testing them out. I can’t describe the joy I get out of eating healthy (uber yummy) food and what a difference it makes in my life.
This is just the beginning of healthy eating for me! Hopefully you enjoy my journey as much as I do… watch this space!
